Scientific American: Live Data Logo Generator
Overview
This web-based logo generator for Scientific American uses live data from NASA's Jet Propulsion Labratory Horizons API to dynamically adjust the brightness of each planet replacing the letters in "Scientific" based on its apparent magnitude (Apmag) and brightness (i.e. visibility) from Earth.
Scientific American is the oldest continuously-running magazine in America. In this redesign, I emphasized its commitment to instilling wonder through a revitalized visual identity and automated tech integration which generates a unique representation of Earth's place in the solar system for each new issue.
